Yahoo! Culture Force

Context:
Culture Force is a global network of Yahoo employees dedicated & empowered to create community & connection among employees.
Project:
Yahoo Culture Force is refreshing its visual identity with a confident, celebratory logo/wordmark and supporting assets.

Goal:
A successful design solution will: create a flexible system that lets Yahoo’s 34 global chapters individualize while keeping the system unified. The design feels upbeat, inclusive, retro-inspired, nostalgic-yet-modern, and harmonious with Yahoo brand guidance without appearing as a corporate sub-brand.

Inspiration pulls from the vibrant, optimistic energy of the 70’s and 80’s, an era of design that felt bold, playful, and full of forward momentum.
-
70s & 80s book cover typography, with its chunky, confident letterforms and tightly set titles that radiate presence and personality.
-
Retro arcade, where type and simple chunky graphics were dynamic, expressive, and designed to feel alive — like it was in motion even when standing still.
-
Vintage color-block line systems, like the iconic Polaroid stripes, which bring in warmth, creativity, and visual “bursts” of color.
